The Doom Slayer is shown in the almost two-minute Doom: The Dark Ages teaser brandishing a skull rifle, a chainsaw shield, and engaging in intense battle in id Software’s upcoming sequel to the legendary series. We know it will be available on Xbox Game Pass and that it will launch sometime in 2025, even if we don’t yet know the exact date.
There have been a lot of rumors floating around about Doom: The Dark Ages. In May, Insider Gaming reported that a medieval version of the game, which was previously thought to exist under the codename “Year Zero,” was scheduled to be released in June. It seems the news was accurate, and we won’t have to wait more than a year to obtain it.
“In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows lengthened, one stood,” the caption on the trailer’s social media post says. Doom: The Dark Ages appears to have every grimy element of medieval fantasy one could want. Here’s a look at the trailer: With id Software releasing two DLC expansions, The Ancient Gods parts one and two, after launch, Doom: The Dark Ages is the first game in the franchise since 2020’s Doom Eternal, which gave rise to a thousand memes about the similarly-timed release of Animal Crossing, the original Barbenheimer.
